Nimbus Theatre has announced it's moving out of its current home in northeast Minneapolis in January, citing a "radical increase in rent."

Nimbus moved into the warehouse space on Central Avenue in 2011, converted it into a theater and produced plays there. It also rented the space out to other small companies in need of a stage.

But in a statement to the press, Co-Artistic Director Josh Cragun said that after almost a year of back-and-forth with First and First, the company that owns the space, "they informed us they were not interested in negotiating."

Cragun said the hunt for a new — and larger — home in Minneapolis is underway and that Nimbus plans to have the new space up and running as soon as possible.
