Man found shot in vehicle on I-694

A man is being treated for gunshot wounds he suffered early in the new year and police look for the shooter.

A Ramsey County Sheriff's spokesman says a sheriff's deputy saw a vehicle pull over quickly on I-694 near Lexington Avenue in the early minutes of New Year's day and pulled up behind the vehicle.

Spokesman Sgt. John Eastham said the deputy, "Went up to check on the people who were inside the vehicle and discovered that one of the occupants of the vehicle had been shot multiple times. So she administered first aid, contacted paramedics and the victim was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries."

Eastham said the sheriff's office believes the victim was shot by someone in another vehicle.

"Two occupants were in the vehicle. The passenger was the person that was shot. I don't believe at this time the driver is the suspect. We believe the person was actually shot while they were in the vehicle and the vehicle was in motion on 694 and that there was another vehicle involved," Eastham said.

No arrests have been made. The sheriff's office is asking the public for help to solve the case.
