Storm stranded few travelers at MSP airport Sunday

The East Coast snowstorm led to airlines canceling about 100 flights in and out of the Twin Cities on Saturday.

Despite that, Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport spokeswoman Melissa Scovronski said travelers headed east did not had to spend the night stuck at the terminal. "Surprisingly we did not have that many people, in fact we had almost no people stranded because of those storms."

One flight headed to Edmonton, Alberta, arrived but couldn't continue on to Canada.

"It looks like the airlines got ahead of the snow and ahead of the game and canceled most of their flights in enough time for people not to show up at the airport," Scovronski said.

By early evening, about 25 flights for Monday are cancelled out of the MSP airport, according to the FlightAware website.
