Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio is coming to Minnesota next week ahead of the March 1 precinct caucuses.

His campaign confirmed Friday that the Florida senator will visit the state, but an aide said the time and place were still being worked out. Rubio made a brief Minnesota fundraising stop in January.

Rubio has the backing of the party's 2014 gubernatorial nominee, Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson, as well as Minnesota U.S. Rep. John Kline and a slate of local lawmakers and activists.

Other candidates in the GOP race -- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush -- appeared in Minnesota in December. Businessman Donald Trump has yet to visit as a candidate.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, have each made multiple Minnesota stops.
