April Fool's Day won't be exceptionally nice. It will be blustery and much cooler than last year. It almost had to be cooler than last year, since we set a record high of of 84 degrees last April 1 in the Twin Cities!
Highs Friday will be cooler than normal statewide:
We could even see a few snow showers in the morning.

Another cold front moves through on Saturday:
It will be very windy on Saturday over Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Winds will be about 24 to 30 mph, with higher gusts.
Highs Saturday will be at least 10 degrees below normal:
Less wind and milder on Sunday
A mild high pressure system moves closer on Sunday. Winds will be lighter, and highs will warm into the 50s over much of southern Minnesota:
Some spots in the southwest metro could see upper 50s on Sunday, and 60 is possible in southwestern Minnesota.

An early morning rain or snow shower is possible on Saturday and Sunday, and rain showers are possible Tuesday evening and Wednesday:
April outlook
This March has been much warmer than normal in Minnesota. We might see an unusually warm April as well.
The April temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a slight tendency for above normal temperatures over about the southwestern half of Minnesota:
There will always be cool days and warm days in a given month. It is the average temp for the entire month that has a slight tendency to be warmer than normal to our southwest. The outlook shows equal chances of above normal or below normal temperatures for the Twin Cities in April.
