Charges against 1 man accused in park shooting dismissed
Charges have been dismissed against one of the men accused in shootout at a St. Paul park that left a teenager dead.
The 24-year-old Minneapolis man was not accused of pulling the trigger, but with committing a crime for the benefit of a gang and rioting. Ramsey County prosecutors tell the St. Paul Pioneer Press they believe the charges could not be upheld at trial.
A criminal complaint says the victim, 18-year-old Bobby Collins, and a man from a rival gang fired gunshots during a confrontation at Indian Mounds Regional Park in April. Eighteen-year-old Ravion Brooks is charged with killing Collins in the park where dozens had gathered.
A second man charged with committing a crime for the benefit of a gang pleaded guilty last week.
