Should we abolish the adverb?

Should adverbs be abolished? What about those words that are just aching for an "-ly" to be added to them? What would happen to all of those "meanwhiles," "indeeds," "often" and "stills?"

Etymologist and University of Minnesota language professor Anatoly Liberman came to the studio and answered questions about adverbs and other English language conundrums.
