This week on Art Hounds, a charming look at romance, a cabaret festival and a trip back in time to 1930s Lanesboro.
Vanessa Gamble of Bucket Brigade Theater recommends Yellow Tree Theatre's production of "String," an original romantic comedy. The show is written, produced and performed by the husband and wife duo Jason Peterson and Jessica Lind Peterson. Gamble says she's impressed by the show's smart writing and original music. Performances run through Oct. 15 in Osseo.
Singer and voiceover artist Maryann Sullivan is jazzed for TCCAN's 2nd annual Cabaret Fest at Bryant Lake Bowl. The two-day festival offers workshops, master classes and performances rich with story and song. Can't make the festival this weekend? Lanesboro theater artist Catherine Glynn is happy to see that "History Alive!" is back in Lanesboro, this time with two weekends of performances that take visitors back to the 1930s. The performances feature Lanesboro residents, from kids to town elders, singing songs and performing dances true to the period. And it's free. Performances take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, this weekend and next.
