Actor Meng Xiong says he had a blast seeing Theater Mu's production of "Two Mile Hollow," which is filled with comic moments. He said the play is about a dysfunctional family trying to connect, while its members deal with their own challenges. Xiong says it's a hilarious play that also got him thinking about his own family, and how its members need one another. Productions run through March 4 at Mixed Blood Theatre.
Anderson Center Director Stephanie Rogers says she's always loved hip-hop — and so she's particularly excited to see "Universes" bring a fusion of poetry, jazz, hip-hop, Spanish bolero and Southern blues to the Sheldon Theater in Red Wing. Part musical performance, part theater, "Universes" comes to the Sheldon this Saturday, March 3, for one night only.
Poet Louis Alemayehu remembers listening to some great jazz sessions on Monday nights when he lived in Chicago. Performers include saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell, drummer Hamid Drake, bassist Anthony Cox and flutist/saxophonist Douglas Ewart.
