Police arrest Cloquet girl over school threats

Police in Cloquet say they have taken an 11-year-old girl into custody following a threat of violence in Cloquet schools.

Police released few details of the case because of the girl's age. A statement from a department commander says police were notified Tuesday of a potential threat made on social media, making reference to Cloquet High School and Cloquet Middle School.

Officers investigated and say they located the girl that they believed to be responsible for the threats. They also removed an Airsoft pistol from the girl's home during the arrest. She was taken to the Arrowhead Juvenile Center and may face a threats of violence charge.

Police and school district officials say the Cloquet schools are safe and encourage anyone who suspects suspicious or potentially dangerous activity to report their concerns to authorities.
