Attendance at this year's Minnesota State Fair continues to track ahead of last year's record pace.

Wednesday saw another daily record for attendance, with 144,940 people passing through the gates. The previous record for that day of the fair was 128,966, set in 2006.

This year's fair also has seen daily attendance records set on Aug. 23 — opening day — and again last Saturday.

Through Wednesday, the cumulative attendance at this year's fair stands at 1,027,251. That's up from 996,216 last year, when the fair set its overall attendance record for the entire 12-day run — 1,997,320.

The last Saturday and Sunday of the fair typically are the event's busiest days. The all-time record attendance for any single day of the fair is 260,374, set on the last Saturday in 2016.
