More Twin Cities road closures this week

Summer may be winding down, but the road hassles continue.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says more Twin Cities freeways will temporarily close starting Thursday night as a busy construction season continues.

Here's what to expect if you're heading out:

Interstate 94 east and west between Interstate 394 and Interstate 35W will be closed overnight Thursday — Sept. 6 — as crews pour concrete on a bridge deck and wash the Lowry Tunnel. Motorists will be detoured to I-35W, Highway 62 and Highway 100. The closure will last from 10 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday.

Next week, I-94 east and west from I-394 to I-35W will be closed overnight Monday — Sept. 10 — as crews pour concrete on a bridge deck, wash a tunnel and do lighting work. The detours are I-35W, Highway 62 and Highway 100.

I-35W south between I-94 and Highway 62 will be closed overnight Thursday, Sept. 13 as MnDOT crews work on the new 26th Street bridge. The detour is I-94 west to I-394 west to Highway 100 south to Highway 62 east.

I-35W in both directions will be closed for a full weekend Sept. 14 through 17, as work continues around the 28th Street bridge. The closure starts at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, and ends by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17. I-35W north will be closed from Highway 62 to I-94, and south from I-94 to 46th Street. Motorists will be detoured to I-394, Highway 100 and Highway 62.
