Two Maple Grove men plead guilty to possessing heroin

Two Maple Grove men have pleaded guilty in Hennepin County to possessing and planning to sell about 6 pounds of heroin.
Daniel Eduardo Martinez-Castro, 28, and Victor Ernesto Castro-Garcia, 43, pleaded guilty on Wednesday and last Friday respectively to aiding and abetting first-degree drug sales or distribution of heroin. They were both sentenced to 65 months in prison, according to a news release from Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
The criminal complaint against the men says that on June 4, law enforcement officers searched a Maple Grove home and recovered 2,758 grams of heroin — about 6 pounds — packaged into numerous bags. Officers also recovered packaging materials in the kitchen and a digital scale in a dresser drawer.
While searching the house, officers saw Martinez-Castro head to the house and saw him drive past it when he saw the police, the news release stated. He was stopped and arrested, and heroin was found inside the car, it stated.
