A couple from Cook, Minn., was injured Thursday evening when their boat struck a log near Crane Lake.

David Quiser, 73, was driving a boat with Florence Young, a 79-year-old female passenger, in the Vermillion River Gorge when their boat hit the submerged log, according to a news release from the St. Louis Sheriff's Office. The woman was thrown overboard.

The man went into the water and was able to get her and himself back into the boat, the sheriff's office reported.

They drove to a nearby marina on Crane Lake, where an ambulance took the man to the Cook hospital and a helicopter flew the woman to a Duluth hospital. Both had hypothermia and minor injuries, the sheriff's office reported. Neither was wearing a life jacket.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
