Reported carjacking in Columbia Heights sends two to hospital

Police in Columbia Heights were called to a reported carjacking that injured two people early Monday morning.
Dispatchers said they got a call reporting a shooting about 5:37 a.m., from someone saying he'd been shot and a vehicle taken at 42nd Avenue and Fillmore Street near LaBelle Park, just a few blocks east of Central Avenue.

The caller was identified as a 17-year-old boy from Maple Grove. Dispatch recordings indicated he reported being shot in the arm and back. The second victim is a 16-year-old boy from Brooklyn Park.
They were taken to Hennepin Health and their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The stolen vehicle is a 2016 white Jeep Patriot with Minnesota license plate AWF385 and it has not yet been recovered, the department added.
