The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued its initial spring flood outlook for the Minnesota, Upper Mississippi, and western Wisconsin river basins. It shows a higher than usual flood potential this year, due in large part to heavy snowpack.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer talked to Craig Schmidt for the latest. Schmidt is the senior service hydrologist for the NWS office in Chanhassen.
