A wet April so far, but it likely won't be the wettest on record
Widespread rain on Wednesday led to several new daily rainfall records for April 17, particularly in southern Minnesota. That's according to meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley, who says more than four inches of rain fell that day in places like St. Peter and Northfield.
But as Seeley told MPR News host Cathy Wurzer, it's unlikely any climate stations will top the state rainfall record for the month of April — 11.93 inches in Lynd, Minnesota in 1896.
