Douglas County deputy shoots man after struggle

A Douglas County sheriff's deputy shot a man early Tuesday morning after a confrontation in Kensington, Minn.

The incident occurred near West Central Area South Elementary School shortly before 1 a.m. Four officers were involved in a physical altercation with the suspect, and a Douglas County deputy fired his weapon, according to the sheriff's office.

Two Douglas County sheriff's deputies were treated for injuries at an Alexandria, Minn., hospital and released.

The suspect is at a St. Cloud, Minn., hospital after undergoing surgery.

The road in front of the school is closed and Tuesday's classes were canceled. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
