Gorgeous stretch of July weather continues
Dry Canadian high pressure will continue to bring us lovely weather into midweek.
You can thank a huge area of dry Canadian high pressure for the glorious weather that began on Sunday and will continue through at least Wednesday.
That high-pressure dome pushed the heat, humidity and thunderstorms well off to our east. Possible severe weather is in the forecast for Monday into Monday night from the mid-Atlantic states to southern New England.
Lovely July weather into midweek
Clear skies and dry air allowed temperatures to cool nicely Sunday night. Temperatures fell into the 40s in parts of central and northern Minnesota by daybreak on Monday.
Look for widespread sunshine and low humidity all day. The one wrinkle might be a few late-day thunderstorms around Ely and the Boundary Waters way up north.

Afternoon high temperatures will be from the mid-70s to the low 80s. The Twin Cities should have a dry high around 80 with a light northwest breeze.
Perfect July weather will continue for Tuesday and Wednesday with a gradual warming trend. Both days will be dry with just some decorative fair weather cumulus clouds.
Unsettled weather later in the week
A developing low-pressure center from Saskatchewan will advance into the Dakotas and likely bring thunderstorms to those states on Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has posted a marginal risk for severe storms for the western Dakotas later on Wednesday.
For Minnesota, Thursday will bring temperatures farther into the 80s and climbing dew points. The storm system affecting the Dakotas on Wednesday will reach our state on Thursday. There will be a good chance for periods of thunderstorms around the state from Thursday into Friday.
Weekend outlook
Next weekend is a long way away, meteorologically, but the early outlook is for a decent chance of thunderstorms on Sunday, mainly across southern Minnesota.
