Thunderstorm chances

There could be an isolated thunderstorm in the area of showers that moves across far southern Minnesota Thursday, and also in the far north. The main thunderstorm event moves into northwestern Minnesota later in the day.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible in northwestern Minnesota late Thursday afternoon. The thunderstorms are expected to spread southeastward Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk of severe weather in west-central, northwestern and north-central Minnesota Thursday and Thursday night:

The Twin Cities metro area could see an isolated shower or thunderstorm this Thursday afternoon and evening, with a better chance of a few showers and thunderstorms overnight into very early on Friday.

The best chance of weekend rain will be on Sunday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the potential rain pattern Sunday and Sunday night:
