A summery stretch through the weekend

Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible in northern Minnesota

Our air conditioners had a nice rest during the first part of this week. You’ll notice warmer temperatures the next few days, with dew points creeping up into the 60s in many areas. It’ll be fairly typical weather for early August.

Temperature trends

Thursday highs will reach the 80s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with a few 70s near Lake Superior.

Most of us will also see highs in the 80s on Friday:

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid- to upper-80s on Sunday, followed by mid-80s Monday and lower-80s Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rain and thunder chances

Far northern Minnesota will have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, and the rain chance will expand into about the northern third of Minnesota Thursday evening.

As always, updated weather information can be heard on the Minnesota Public Radio Network, and you’ll also see updated weather info on the MPR News live weather blog.

The northern half of Minnesota, plus northern Wisconsin, will have a chance of scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms Friday and this weekend. There could be an isolated shower/thunderstorm in west-central Wisconsin on Saturday. Check forecast updates to see if those rain chances expand into other areas.

There’s a good chance that much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see some rain at times on Monday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the potential rain pattern Monday and Monday night:
