A nice start to the weekend, with rain chance arriving Saturday evening

Most of Sunday looks dry

If you’re going to have some weekend rain, you’d probably prefer that it fall at night. That way, you can maximize your outdoor fun.

Some showers and thunderstorms could move into parts of western Minnesota Saturday afternoon, then spread eastward Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Saturday afternoon through Saturday night:

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk of severe weather Saturday and Saturday night for a very small part of southwestern Minnesota, with a marginal risk of severe weather from west-central through southeastern Minnesota:

Slight risk means that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, while marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. SPC will update the Saturday severe weather outlook early Friday afternoon.
