Republican Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka joined MPR News host Tom Crann on Thursday’s All Things Considered to talk about some of the issues facing Minnesota — from the trade war with China to increasing the gas tax and finding a solution for the soaring cost of insulin prices.

Gazelka said there has been some relief on the cost of insulin for those with insurance. “So, it’s a smaller and smaller group that we are concerned about, but it’s those that are uninsured that might need insulin. And so if we can find a solution to that, then we could do a special session. And then as far as the gun issue, that one is way more complex,” Gazelka said.

He talked about what he’s hearing from farmers about the trade war, his thoughts on raising the gas tax and if Minnesota is prepared for an eventual recession.
