Dan Feehan, an Iraq war veteran, former teacher and former Defense Department official, announced Tuesday he will seek a rematch with U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn in 2020. The Democrat lost by about 1,300 votes to Republican Hagedorn last year.

In a video announcing his second campaign, Feehan pledged to fight for the middle class.

"Real patriotism means rooting out the corruption in Washington,” he said. “The drug companies, Wall Street, big oil — they own Washington."

Feehan accused Hagedorn of siding with those corporate interests over his southern Minnesota constituents.

“He is beholden to special interests and supports policies that benefit the big-moneyed donors in our country at the cost of hard-working communities,” Feehan said in a release announcing his run. “Instead of fighting for middle class families, he has repeatedly voted against lowering the cost of health care and prescription drugs, put rural hospitals at risk, and stood in silent support of economic uncertainty for our farmers.”

Hagedorn has been a strong supporter of President Trump. He held a town hall meeting in southern Minnesota Monday where he acknowledged the trade battle with China is hurting the agriculture industry. He also said House Democrats are wasting their time with their impeachment inquiry of Trump.
