Chilly Saturday, a bit milder on Sunday

Some slick roads Saturday morning

Light snow showers overnight and very early Saturday resulted in slick spots on some roads and bridges in the Twin Cities metro area:

There were also some reports of snow-covered and slippery roads in parts of far northern Minnesota Saturday morning. Minnesota road condition updates can be found here.

Temperature trends

Our average Nov. 2 high temperature in the Twin Cities is 49 degrees. We’ll be chillier than that today, with a high near 40. Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will top out in the 30s Saturday afternoon, with lower 40s in parts of southwestern Minnesota.

Highs in the 40s expand across much of central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon:

Sunday rain and snow chances?

The best chance of snow showers the remainder of Saturday morning into early Saturday afternoon is expected to be in southeastern Minnesota as well as north-central and northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. Elsewhere, including the Twin Cities metro area, a passing flurry is possible.

Listen for updated weather information on the MPR network, and you’ll also see updated weather info on the MPR News live weather blog.

During the daylight hours of Sunday, the best chance of occasional snow/rain showers will be in about the northern half of Minnesota, plus northwestern Wisconsin. Those snow showers will probably continue Sunday night. Rainshowers could move into southwestern Minnesota by Sunday afternoon. Roughly the southern half of Minnesota, plus west-central Wisconsin, will probably see some rain showers Sunday evening, which will gradually changing to a rain/snow mix overnight Sunday night.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Sunday and Sunday evening:
