Cooler, then cold; possibly a record on Monday

Light snow showers possible Sunday

It’s always nice when the weather cooperates with outdoor plans on a weekend day. We hit 45 degrees at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Saturday, making it the mildest day since last Sunday.

Weather was not a problem during the Minnesota Gophers football game on Saturday:

It was an impressive win over Penn State!

Our average Twin Cities high temp is 45 degrees this time of year. We won’t see another 45 degree reading for a while. Highs during the daylight hours of Sunday will be in the 20s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Highs in the upper teens are possible in parts of northwestern and north-central Minnesota, and southeastern Minnesota could see a few lower 30s early Sunday followed by slowly falling temps Sunday afternoon.

Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have highs in the teens on Monday, which is Veterans Day:

It’ll also be windy on Monday.

The coldest Nov. 11 high temperature in Twin Cities weather records was 18 degrees, in 1986. We’ll be close to that mark this year.

Our Twin Cities metro temps will probably drop into the single digits overnight Monday night into early Tuesday, followed by highs of around 20 on Tuesday, 30 on Wednesday, and mid 30s Thursday and Friday.

The Nov. 17 through Nov. 23 temperature outlook from the NWS Climate Prediction center points to normal temps or warmer than normal temps in Minnesota:

That would be nice!

Sunday snow chances

Parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have light snow or a rain/snow mix that changes to light snow as we go through Saturday evening. Listen for updated weather information on the MPR network, and you’ll also see updated weather info on the MPR News live weather blog.

On Sunday, we could see occasional light snow showers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Sunday through Sunday evening:

Pay more attention to the scattered nature of the snow showers than the exact location of the snow showers.
