Saturday night rain/wintry mix; flake chance early Sunday, with cooler temps

Mild start to next week

A wintry mix of light rain, drizzle, freezing drizzle and light snow will move across Minnesota and western Wisconsin Saturday night into early Sunday.

The best chance of freezing drizzle will be to the north, and there’s a winter weather advisory from 10 p.m. this Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday for much of northeastern Minnesota:

Parts of northeastern Minnesota could see snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches by Sunday morning, with an inch or so in western Wisconsin and portions of southeastern Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro area is expected to see mainly periods of light rain and drizzle overnight Saturday night, possibly mixed with some flakes at times. There could be a few flurries in the metro area early on Sunday.

The Duluth office and the Twin Cities office and the La Crosse, Wisc. office of the National Weather Service will have weather updates overnight and early Sunday.
