Seasonable weather continues this week, but an arctic blast is on the way
Snow for most of Minnesota Sunday and Monday
If you haven’t already done so, get all your cold weather gear ready! After this week’s seasonable temperatures, arctic air will send temperatures below zero next week.
Wednesday
It will be a very quiet and seasonable day across all of Minnesota. Winds will remain relatively light, except a little breezier near Lake Superior. And, the state will stay dry, although a couple flurries are possible in northeast Minnesota. Highs will be mostly in the 30s, just slightly above average.
Thursday and Friday
A weak cold front passes through on Thursday, bringing with it the chance for light snow, especially for northern Minnesota, where there could be up around 2 inches for parts of the Arrowhead. The rest of the state sees a few more clouds and maybe a flurry.
Cooler air moves in behind that front, leading to a colder day on Friday with more of our high temperatures in the teens and 20s.

After the one colder day, we return to more seasonable temperatures over the weekend.
Upcoming precipitation
After Thursday’s snow chance for northern Minnesota, our next best chance for snow is a system that brings in light snow across the state on Sunday and Monday.
Although that snow looks predominantly light, there will likely be at least a couple inches of accumulation by the time the snow moves out.
Next week’s cold
Behind the snow at the start of next week, what is likely to be our coldest air of the season so far moves in.
Right now it looks like the coldest days will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will run over 20 degrees below average at times, with most locations seeing overnight lows dip below zero at some point.
Parts of northern Minnesota might not make it above zero for highs on one or two of the days. Get ready to bundle up!
