MPR’s traditional year-end look at the economy.

Gary Eichten hosted the annual event at St. John's University with economists Louis Johnston and Chris Farrell. They explain what's happening with unemployment, wages, deficits and tariffs and how the president's actions do — or don't — affect the performance of the economy.

Louis Johnston is professor of economics at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict.

Chris Farrell is senior economics commentator for APM’s Marketplace and Minnesota Public Radio.

They spoke on Wednesday at an event hosted in Collegeville by The Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
