Northern Minnesota dealt with snow most of the weekend, and there are some double-digit snow totals being reported, including 13 inches at Waskish, Elbow Lake and Bemidji:

The big picture
A low pressure system will weaken over Minnesota Sunday night and another low will strengthen over the western Great Lakes on Monday and spin moisture back over Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from Sunday evening through Monday evening:

Green indicates rain, while blue is snow and pink/purple is a wintry mix in the loop.
A shift in the track of the low pressure system will affect the snow pattern and snow amounts Monday and Monday night.

Winter storm warnings continue in the remainder of northwestern Minnesota Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night.
The heaviest snow Monday and Monday evening will be from eastern Minnesota into Wisconsin:

Winter storm warnings continue Sunday evening through Monday evening in much of northeastern Minnesota, and winter storm warnings start at 6 a.m. Monday and run until midnight Monday night from southern St. Louis county down through Chisago county in Minnesota and through most of western Wisconsin:

The highest snow amounts Monday and Monday evening are expected to be over Wisconsin, with significant snow totals in eastern Minnesota. The winter weather advisory in the Twin Cities metro area and points to the south of the metro area starts at 6 a.m. Monday and runs until midnight Monday night. It is for a wintry mix of drizzle, freezing drizzle, light rain and snow that then turns to all snow. We could also see some areas of fog and freezing fog overnight Sunday night and early on Monday.
Updates on the winter storm will be posted by the NWS offices in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Grand Forks, La Crosse and Sioux Falls.

Temperature trends
The Sunday high temp was 42 degrees at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. That’s well above our average Dec. 29 Twin Cities high of 24 degrees.
Monday highs reach the 30s in parts of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with 20s in most of western Minnesota. Temps could be slowly falling Monday afternoon as the winds pick up.
Tuesday highs will be mostly in the 20s, with some teens in the north:

Twin Cities metro area highs reach the mid 30s Thursday, followed by lower 30s on Friday.
