A dangerously cold Thursday morning across Minnesota

Plentiful sunshine ahead of our next storm

All of Minnesota is starting off Thursday under a wind chill advisory with most of state seeing wind chills of at least minus 20, and northwestern Minnesota feeling as cold as minus 40 at times.

Dangerous cold

Temperatures rise only slightly through the day, remaining subzero for most of northern Minnesota, and only single digits for the rest of the state.

Other conditions

Fortunately, the winds Thursday stay relatively light, mostly 10 mph or less, not making the already dangerous wind chills feel even colder. Winds will pick up for western Minnesota Thursday night as a snowstorm approaches for Friday.

Skies will remain mostly clear, so it will likely be the sunniest day of the week despite the cold.

A major winter storm will impact all of Minnesota Friday and Saturday. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
