Fog and freezing drizzle creating icy spots Monday morning
Mild weather continues
A very stable air mass sitting over Minnesota is causing some fog and drizzle for parts of Minnesota Monday morning, and it will keep clouds in place for most of the day.
Monday’s forecast
High pressure is dominating Minnesota’s weather and keeping stagnate air over the state. This weather pattern combined with low-level moisture is causing low stratus clouds across the state Monday morning. There is enough moisture to be causing some areas of fog, freezing drizzle and flurries just in the morning until the clouds lift some.
The areas of fog and freezing drizzle are leaving an icy glaze on some of the untreated roads. The southwest corner of the state is under a winter weather advisory until (in purple) 9 a.m. due to icy hazards.
Even though the clouds will lift some, ending the fog and light precipitation by late morning, all of Monday will stay mostly cloudy. Minnesota does continue to see slightly above average temperatures Monday, with most of the state in the 20s.
Mild air continues through the week ahead. The extended forecast will be updates around 9 a.m.
