Minnesota is starting Friday off with areas of fog, freezing fog and light snow, which is making for some slick spots on the roads. Temperatures are mild ahead of a big weekend warmup.
Friday’s weather
An area of low pressure is moving light snow across the state Friday morning. Here is where the snow is as of 6:46 a.m.:

Most of the state is also seeing fog again that will lift through the morning, with southwestern Minnesota under a dense fog advisory until noon.
Areas of light rain or freezing drizzle will likely begin to mix in with the snow as temperatures rise through the day.

The precipitation will clear eastward and move out of Minnesota by late afternoon, with most of the state seeing under an inch of snow. Southern Minnesota could see isolated reports up to 2 inches.

Even outside of precipitation the state will remain mostly cloudy.
Friday morning temperatures are mild, from the upper teens north to near 30 south. Highs will be 5 to 10 degrees above average, ranging from the upper 20s to mid-30s.

By the weekend, the entire state will see temperatures above freezing. That extended forecast will be posted around 9 a.m.
