After Wednesday's sunshine, a couple rounds of snow

Temperatures stick close to average

Wednesday brings more sunshine and slightly above-average temperatures before a couple rounds of snow target Minnesota.

Wednesday’s forecast

Except for northeastern Minnesota, where areas that saw calm winds dropped well below zero, the state started off with seasonable cold Wednesday morning.

By the afternoon, thanks to abundant sunshine, the entire state should warm into the 20s and be slightly above average.

A slight breeze will keep the temperatures feeling slightly cooler, particularly near the Red River Valley.

Snow returns

A weak area of lower pressure brings light snow into northern Minnesota Thursday morning, across the state by Thursday evening, and it slowly clears out on Friday.

Saturday will be a quieter day, but already by Saturday night, a potent system that will pass south of the state Sunday starts to bring snow into southwestern Minnesota.

There is still some uncertainty with the exact track and amount of snow, but snow totals of 3 to 4 inches or higher are possible.

Temperatures

Neither of systems that bring our chances for snow bring major temperatures changes, keeping Minnesota seasonable much of the week ahead. For the Twin Cities, as of Feb. 5, the average high is 26 degrees and the low is 10.
