Cool Sunday, but temps rebound Monday; periods of snow or a wintry mix Monday

Sunday will be several degrees cooler than Saturday, with highs in the 20s from southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin and mostly teens in northern Minnesota. Some spots in the Twin Cities metro area could reach the mid 20s. Our average Twin Cities high is 29 degrees this time of year. We’ll see an impressive temperature range in the coming week.

Portions of southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin will top out in the lower 20s.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 30s on Monday, followed by chilly highs in the upper teens Tuesday and lower teens on Wednesday. Metro area highs rebound to the lower 20s Thursday, followed by mid 30s on Friday.

Friday’s above-normal temps may continue into next weekend and the beginning of the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temperatures in Minnesota and Wisconsin for Feb. 21 through Feb. 25:

Precipitation

Scattered light snow showers are possible this Sunday in west-central Minnesota,southern Minnesota and parts of southwestern Wisconsin. Parts of the Twin Cities metro area could see a passing snow flurry.

Snow spreads across the northern third of Minnesota from Sunday evening through the overnight hours of Sunday night. Most of Minnesota and and western Wisconsin will have periods of snow Monday into Monday evening. The Monday snow might mix with freezing drizzle and light freezing rain at times in southern Minnesota, the Twin Cities metro area, and western Wisconsin.

Based on the latest info, much of the Twin Cities metro area would see around one inch of snow Monday into Monday evening, with around 2 inches possible in parts of the southeast metro. There could be some 3 to 5 inch snow amounts in southeastern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Check forecast updates.
