Arctic cold grips Minnesota again

Wind chills of 20 and 30 below Wednesday morning

Wednesday is starting off with dangerous cold, and temperatures will remain well below average even under afternoon sunshine.

Wednesday’s forecast

Minnesota is off to a very cold start Wednesday morning, with all but a few spots in southern Minnesota below zero, and some place minus 20 or colder. Here are the temperatures and winds as of 7 a.m.:

Fortunately, winds across most of the state are relatively light, but it’s still enough to drop wind chills to 20 and 30 below at times for much of the state. Because of the dangerous cold, a wind chill advisory is up until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The entire state should make it above zero for highs, but that will still be about 20 degrees below average for most of the state.

Mostly sunny skies prevail across Minnesota on Wednesday, but those clear skies mean temperatures will really drop again for Thursday morning. That extended forecast, including details on the weekend warmup, will be posted around 9 a.m.
