Wednesday remains mild with clouds moving in and winds picking up. Most of the state sees either rain or snow by evening.
Wednesday’s weather
Wednesday is starting with a large temperature contrast across the state, ranging from single digits north to temperatures near 30 in southern Minnesota. Afternoon highs will be above average for the entire state, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

A strong storm that will slide across northern Minnesota Thursday will already start causing weather impacts later Wednesday. Clouds and winds will increase through the day. By this evening, northwestern Minnesota could see winds gusts over 30 mph. Snow also starts moving into northern Minnesota by late afternoon, and by the end of the day, the majority of the state will have chances for snow north and rain in southern parts of the state.
Here are the expected precipitations types and coverage expected by 10 p.m.:

Northern parts of the Arrowhead have the best chances for accumulation with this system, with some locations that could see up to 3 or 4 inches of snow through Thursday.
