Wednesday will be a gray day across Minnesota, with areas of drizzle, freezing drizzle and light snow. Temperatures will remain mild.
Wednesday’s forecast
After Tuesday’s sunshine, a weather system has returned widespread cloud cover across Minnesota Wednesday morning, including some lower clouds and areas of light fog.
Because of this, temperatures stayed very mild overnight and all but northern Minnesota is starting off in the 30s Wednesday morning. By the afternoon, most of the state will be in the 30s and 40s.

Precipitation will remain mostly light, with southern Minnesota likely to see periods of drizzle, and a line from Moorhead to Duluth northward most likely to see light freezing drizzle and snow, which could make roads slick.

While the daytime snow will be light, a more persistent band of snow will likely move in late Wednesday through Thursday morning, bringing northern Minnesota 1 to 3 inches of snow, with some isolated higher amounts.

The entire state is expected to see heavier precipitation Thursday as a stronger storm impacts Minnesota. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
