Weekend forecast: Highs mainly in the 60s; Saturday shower chance

Isolated t-storm Saturday afternoon/evening?

Most of our weekend hours will be dry, but there will probably be some scattered showers starting Saturday morning in western Minnesota, spreading eastward in the afternoon and lingering into Saturday evening. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Saturday and Saturday night:

Kite-flyers outlook

It’s great to get outdoors for awhile in these days of social distancing.

The scattered showers and any isolated thunderstorm Saturday and Saturday evening won’t last very long at any given location, so our weekend weather will cooperate with most of your plans to walk, jog, run or take a bike ride.

I saw a guy flying a kite in a local park this week, so I thought it might be time for my first kite-flyers forecast.

Winds will be lightest on Saturday and there is that possibility of an isolated afternoon/evening thunderstorm.

That’s not the best weather for flying a kite. Sunday will be dry, with afternoon wind gusts in the teens, so I vote for Sunday as the best kite-flying day of the weekend.

Stay safe.
