Blizzard warnings in Northwest Minnesota, winter weather advisories across the state

Most areas will have pleasant weather this Sunday. I have to mention that eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could see a few scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm at some point Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening. Any rain wouldn’t last very long at any given spot.

A batch of rain showers with a few embedded thunderstorms is expected to move into northwestern Minnesota Sunday evening, then spread southeastward overnight. The chance of showers/isolated t-storms will linger into early Monday morning in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Sunday evening through Monday morning:

Tuesday looks like the rainiest day in the coming week.

Our average Twin Cities high temp is 63 degrees this time of year. I’m expecting Twin Cities metro area highs in the upper 60s this Sunday afternoon, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a stray 70.  Sunday highs will be in the 60s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A few spots in southern Minnesota may touch 70. Portions of northeastern Minnesota will have highs in the 50s.

On Monday, highs in the 70s are forecast across most of central and southern Minnesota, with 60s elsewhere:

Parts of far northeastern Minnesota may see some 50s.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 70s on Monday, followed by lower 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, upper 60s on Thursday and around 70 on Friday.

The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a slight tendency for above normal temperatures in Minnesota and Wisconsin from May 1 through May 5, which takes us through next weekend and the start of the following week:
