After warm weather Wednesday, temperatures dive by the end of the week. Precipitation remains limited.
Wednesday’s forecast
Southern Minnesota is already seeing a few more clouds Wednesday morning, and slight instability over the state will keep mostly cloudy skies across much of Minnesota through the day. That instability could bring a couple light, isolated rain showers or sprinkles along the North Shore and in southern Minnesota during the afternoon.

Even with the cloud cover, most of the state will make it into the 60s for highs, which is likely to be the warmest weather Minnesota sees for the next week.

The warm, dry air causing low humidity plus breezy conditions will lead to an elevated fire risk for northeastern Minnesota during the afternoon.

Colder than average
Already by Thursday, cooler air starts to funnel into Minnesota. Despite mostly sunny skies, this will drop all but parts of southern Minnesota into the 50s, and some 40s are possible in northern Minnesota.
Friday also stays sunny, but the cold air becomes more widespread, and most of the state only makes it into the 40s for highs. It will likely feel colder than that due to breezy conditions. Because of the colder weather, even southern Minnesota could see areas of frost by Saturday morning, which is late in the season for a potential frost.

After warming slightly Saturday, temperatures most of next week continue to stay 5-20 degrees below average.
Here is the Twin Cities forecast through Saturday:

Drier than average
The state will also see below average precipitation for the next week.
Our next chance for statewide showers comes Saturday into Sunday, but moisture with that system looks limited. While it will be mostly spotty, light rain that moves across the state, as the precipitation moves in Saturday morning it could be cold enough for light snow to mix in. The same thing will likely happen Sunday morning, with a little light snow mixing in overnight during the coldest hours, before the precipitation returns to all light rain showers.

All the rain should clear out by Sunday evening. Accumulation will remain light, with most places seeing trace amounts up to a quarter inch of rain total for both days.
