Despite sunshine, temperatures across Minnesota Monday will stay well below average with highs only in the 40s and 50s.
Monday’s forecast
The state is starting off cold for May, with morning temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Clouds cleared out overnight for all but southern Minnesota, which is part of the reason temperatures were able to get so cold overnight.
The remaining clouds clear Monday morning, meaning the entire state will see abundant sunshine throughout the day. Even with the sun, temperatures will remain 10 to 15 degrees below average, putting highs only in the 40s and 50s.

The dry conditions combined with breezy afternoon winds will cause an elevated fire risk for portions of northern Minnesota, especially in the afternoon.

Clear skies again overnight will lead to another frost and freeze risk for portions of southern Minnesota Tuesday morning. That forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
