Wednesday’s rain is beneficial given recent dry conditions across most of Minnesota, but it will also keep temperatures below average again.
Wednesday’s forecast
Thanks to clouds that moved in overnight and a warmer wind flow from the southeast, temperatures are starting off much milder Wednesday morning than the recent cold morning temperatures.
Except for northeast Minnesota in the 20s and 30s because skies stayed clear and temperatures were able to drop more, the entire state is seeing morning temperatures in the 40s Wednesday morning. Despite a mild start, highs stay about 5 to 10 degrees below average, because under clouds and rain, temperatures will not rise much through the day.

Rain showers are already moving into western Minnesota as of Wednesday morning and spread across most of the state by afternoon.

Isolated thunderstorms are also possible near the Minnesota border. Rain totals likely remain low, with most of the state expected to get under a quarter inch of precipitation, although northern Minnesota could see a few totals over a half an inch.

It will also be breezy during the afternoon, with most of Minnesota seeing wind gusts over 20 mph.
Spotty rain will linger Thursday, but temperatures will also be noticeably higher. That forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
