Many parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin have been much drier than normal over the past two weeks. That’s about to change.
A low-pressure system will track to our south and southeast this weekend, spinning rain over much of Minnesota. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon:

If you’re going to be in the Twin Cities metro area this weekend, you can expect the steadiest rains from late Saturday afternoon into the overnight hours of Saturday night plus early Sunday. There could also be some embedded thunderstorms at times.
Scattered showers are also possible in the metro area before and after the period of steadiest rains.
