Skies have finally dried across all but southeastern Minnesota, and most of the state will see plentiful sunshine Wednesday after widespread areas of morning fog lift.

All the moisture from Tuesday’s heavy rain, combined with light winds overnight, produced fog that is reducing visibilities across much of Minnesota Wednesday morning.  A widespread portion of central Minnesota is under a dense fog advisory until 8 a.m. for visibility that is as low as a quarter-mile in some spots.  

Along the North Shore, the advisory lasts until 1 p.m.  

The recent active weather has finally cleared for most of Minnesota, so once the fog lifts, skies will be mostly sunny, and under sunnier and drier conditions, much of the state will see highs in the 80s.  

A lingering area of instability is bringing morning showers to parts of southeastern Minnesota, and that corner of the state keeps a slight chance for occasional showers and a few isolated storms through the day.  

Cooler weather returns to the state by the end of the week.  That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
