Hot, muggy Monday

All of Minnesota will be in the meteorological warm sector on Monday. That means that the warm front has pushed through and brought us very warm, muggy air while the cold front trailing from the same low pressure system remains off to our west in the Dakotas.

High temperatures in our warm sector on Monday should range mainly from the mid-80s in parts of the north to mid-90s in southern Minnesota. Cooler temperatures will prevail near Lake Superior thanks to a brisk breeze off the water. The Twin Cities should heat to about 95 muggy degrees with a south wind of 15 to 30 mph.

Showery and cooler Tuesday

The advancing cold front as well as subtropical moisture flowing northward up the Mississippi River Valley will kick off numerous areas of rain on Tuesday and for Tuesday night. Some rainfall could be heavy.

Cooler temperatures will slide in on the back side of that cold front.

Real cooldown for Wednesday

Wednesday might feel almost chilly after Monday’s toasty temperatures. A gusty northwest wind will blow in high temperatures mainly in the 60s. And look for some possible lingering showers, mainly in the east.
