Friday brings dry skies and light winds, then the weather turns more active again by the weekend, with scattered shows and storms likely through the start of next week.
Friday’s forecast
The cold front that brought widespread showers and storms Thursday has now cleared south of the state. This has moved the wet weather out and is returning most of the state to sunny skies, although the southeastern corner of the state will still see lingering clouds and couple isolated showers.
Light winds out of the north and west are pushing cooler, less humid air across the state. Friday morning temperatures are mostly in the 50s and 60s, and afternoon highs will be predominantly in the 70s.

A couple temperatures in the low 80s are possible in southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. These temperatures are much more seasonable for mid-June versus the recent heat.

Summer begins Saturday
The summer solstice occurs at 4:44 p.m. Saturday in Minnesota, hailing in summer for the Northern Hemisphere. It’s also the time of year where we have the most daylight, ranging from 15.5 hours in southern Minnesota to 16 hours north.

After the solstice, daylight hours start to shorten each day until the winter solstice in December.
Active weather
Minnesota will start the new season with the return of active weather. Occasional showers and storms are possible again Saturday through at least the middle of next week.
There could be periods of heavy rain with thunderstorms, which would be beneficial especially for central and northern Minnesota, which have been drier than average this year.

Highs stay seasonable, with most of the state in the 70s and low 80s from Friday through at least late next week. Here is the Twin Cities forecast through Monday:

Have a lovely start of summer and Father’s Day!
