I’ll start with an update from the National Weather Service Grand Forks, N.D., office concerning the Wednesday tornado that hit parts of Grant and Otter Tail counties in northwestern Minnesota.

The NWS storm survey team determined that it was an EF-4 tornado, with max winds of 170 mph:

A look at tornado statistics on the NWS site shows that Wednesday’s tornado was only the fourth EF-4 tornado in the northwest quarter of Minnesota since 1996.
