Scattered thunderstorms at times today; quiet weather on Sunday

Mixed bag of weather next week

It’s always good to have a “plan B” when there are thunderstorms in the forecast. Periods of scattered thunderstorms are expected today and tonight in much of Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Northeastern Minnesota may miss out on most of the rain today.

There’s also a chance of some severe thunderstorms this Saturday and Saturday night. The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk (shaded yellow) of severe weather today and tonight across much of southern Minnesota:

Slight risk means that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible.

The south and west portions of the Twin Cities metro area and parts of central Minnesota have a marginal risk of severe weather this Saturday and Saturday night, which means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible.

Weekend temps and humidity

Far northern Minnesota and parts of western Minnesota will have Saturday highs in the 70s, with 80s elsewhere. The Twin Cities metro area will top out in the low to mid 80s.

Most of Minnesota will have Saturday dew points in the 60s, with 50s in far northern Minnesota.

Sunday highs will be mainly in the 80s, with a few 70s in northeastern Minnesota:

Next week

You can expected a mixed bag of weather next week. We’ll have a good chance of showers and t-storms Monday night and Tuesday. Another batch of showers and storms could move through on Thursday.  Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 80s on Monday, followed by around 80 Tuesday, lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday and upper 80s Friday.

No chilly air in sight

Next weekend and the following week look warm.
