Tropical humidity gone; comfortable week ahead

A dry northwest flow out of Canada has kicked the tropical humidity out of Minnesota. This week will bring an extended period of seasonable temperatures and comfortable dew points.

Look for high temperatures mainly from the mid-70s up north to the mid-80s in parts of the south for most of the week.

For the Twin Cities area, that means high temperatures mainly in the low 80s with dew points in the upper 50s to some very low 60s.

The calendar still says July and Minnesota is a rather large state from north to south, so there will be a couple chances of showers. Forecast models are indicating the likelihood of scattered showers in the northeast Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday the chance of scattered afternoon showers will shift to the southeastern corner as a weather system passes through Iowa.

In total, the next five days look remarkably rain-free for this time of the year.

As shown on the map of forecast precipitation, rainfalls are likely to soak the middle of the country from Kansas and Oklahoma through Missouri to Kentucky and Tennessee during the next five days ending at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
